STATUS_HV_INVALID_SYNIC_STATE
The destination VP’s synthetic interrupt path is disabled
STATUS_HV_INVALID_SYNIC_STATE points to the Hyper-V synthetic interrupt controller path. For HvCallPostMessage, it is returned when the target VP’s SynIC is disabled or its SynIC message page (SIM) is disabled, so the message cannot be queued for delivery.
This status is not solved by changing only the connection ID. Inspect the destination VP’s interrupt configuration and the lifetime of the SynIC pages. On x64, SynIC extends the virtual APIC model; its configuration is per VP even though parts of the broader interrupt model are partition-wide.
What to verify
- Target partition, VP index, SynIC enable state and SIM-page configuration.
- The mapping and lifetime of the destination message page.
- VP startup/shutdown timing relative to connection and message setup.
- Whether the sender is posting to a VP that was reconfigured or torn down.
