STATUS_HV_INVALID_LP_INDEX
The host logical-processor reference is outside the exposed topology
STATUS_HV_INVALID_LP_INDEX concerns a logical processor (LP) identity in the hypervisor topology. It should not be confused with STATUS_HV_INVALID_VP_INDEX, which refers to a guest virtual processor inside a partition. The two namespaces can change independently.
Diagnose the topology snapshot used by the caller, particularly around CPU hot-add/removal, processor groups, nested virtualization, or host configuration changes. A value copied from a guest CPU index is not automatically a valid hypervisor LP index.
What to inspect
- The API/hypercall that expects an LP index and the target partition context.
- The hypervisor’s current logical-processor topology and implementation limits.
- CPU group or hot-plug events that occurred after the index was obtained.
- Conversions between guest VP indices, host LP indices, APIC IDs and CPU-group identifiers.
