ERROR_HV_INVALID_REGISTER_VALUE

Hyper-V validates register encodings without emulating instruction side effects

ERROR_HV_INVALID_REGISTER_VALUE is returned when a value supplied to a VP register operation violates the register contract. Hyper-V checks reserved bits, architecturally fixed zero or one bits, value width, and read-only status. A register name can be valid while the associated value is not.

Log the register name and all 128 value bits before conversion. Construct values from the documented union or bitfield for the current architecture and VTL, zero reserved fields, and read back writable state when possible. HvCallSetVpRegisters does not reproduce every side effect of executing the corresponding hardware instruction, so using it as an instruction emulator can leave state inconsistent even after validation succeeds.
