STATUS_VID_CHILD_GPA_PAGE_SET_CORRUPTED
The child GPA page set no longer matches the lock state
STATUS_VID_CHILD_GPA_PAGE_SET_CORRUPTED does not mean the guest file system is corrupt. It means VID detected inconsistent host bookkeeping for a set of guest physical pages, typically around a lock/unlock pair.
Here the failed invariant is the relationship between a child GPA page set and an earlier lock request: the page array presented for unlock no longer matches the set VID recorded. Treat the GPA list, page count, and lock/unlock sequence as one transaction; a reordered cleanup or stale saved mapping is more relevant than guest virtual-address permissions.
This is a strong signal to preserve sequence evidence, because the mismatched unlock is often only the point where a prior incorrect range, stale handle, or double operation becomes visible.
What to inspect
- Capture the GPA base, page count, and handle identity from both the lock and unlock sides if tracing is available.
- Look for overlapping ranges, double unlocks, and teardown racing with memory notification or device assignment.
- Check whether a saved-state restore or migration path rebuilt page-set state incorrectly.
