STATUS_VID_KM_INTERFACE_ALREADY_INITIALIZED
The kernel-mode VID interface is already initialized
STATUS_VID_KM_INTERFACE_ALREADY_INITIALIZED is an initialization-order error in the host virtualization stack. It says the same kernel-mode interface was already set up for the caller or context.
This is narrower than the general handler duplicate status: the duplicate is at the kernel-mode interface initialization boundary, before individual objects such as queues or memory blocks may be used.
The same kernel-mode VID interface context has already completed initialization, so another initialization call violates its lifecycle. Examine driver start, restart, and error-unwind paths for a second entry into initialization without the matching interface teardown.
What to inspect
- Find the earlier successful initialization and the caller that retried it.
- Check service or driver restart paths that may skip deinitialization after a partial failure.
- Correlate with context-count exhaustion if repeated initialization attempts accumulate live contexts.
