Name metadata is distinct from pack identity
The pack name is a descriptive property, while the pack identifier and membership determine the logical configuration. This status should not be treated as a filesystem volume-label error or as permission to rename a disk group without first validating its metadata state.
Preserve both name and identifier
Record the proposed and stored pack names, the pack identifier, source of the operation, and whether the pack is local, foreign, online, or offline. Correct naming through the supported management path only after establishing that the pack record itself is otherwise consistent.
