STATUS_HDAUDIO_EMPTY_CONNECTION_LIST
The codec topology contains an unexpectedly empty connection list
HD Audio codecs describe signal routing as widgets connected through codec-defined connection lists. A widget that declares such a list must provide entries from which the function driver can build paths between pins, mixers, selectors, converters, and other nodes. An empty list prevents that topology from being constructed as expected.
This usually points to codec firmware, verb-response, or driver parsing problems. It is not repaired by changing the Windows default playback endpoint when the logical topology itself could not be enumerated.
What to inspect
- Capture the codec address, node ID, widget capabilities, connection-list length, and raw verb responses.
- Compare the reported topology with the codec vendor documentation and a known-good firmware revision.
- Check for resume or power-state failures that return incomplete codec data.
- Verify the bus and function driver agree on short-form versus long-form connection-list entries.
