STATUS_SVHDX_UNIT_ATTENTION_RESERVATIONS_RELEASED
The reservation state changed by release rather than normal I/O
STATUS_SVHDX_UNIT_ATTENTION_RESERVATIONS_RELEASED signals that a persistent reservation visible to this initiator was released. Release can be deliberate during controlled handoff, but the status still invalidates any assumption that the former holder can continue protected access.
Differentiate a release from preemption. A release describes reservation state being removed; preemption additionally involves another initiator taking or changing control. Both require the guest cluster to reconcile ownership before write traffic resumes.
What to verify
- Verify whether the release corresponds to a planned shutdown, maintenance action, or failover workflow.
- Re-read reservation state instead of relying on a prior local cache.
- Keep the distinction from registration loss: a node can retain or lose registrations independently of the active reservation.
