STATUS_SVHDX_VERSION_MISMATCH
The client and server disagree about the Shared VHDX protocol version
STATUS_SVHDX_VERSION_MISMATCH is a compatibility failure between the requesting side and the Shared VHDX server. It is not a request to rewrite the VHDX header. The data file can be structurally sound while the participating hosts or components disagree on the version of the shared-disk protocol they can use.
The reliable evidence is the host and cluster software level, installed virtualization components, and feature configuration on each participant. Treat an asymmetric deployment or an incomplete upgrade as a configuration issue before touching the virtual disk image.
What to verify
- Inventory the Hyper-V and clustering components on every host that can open the shared disk.
- Compare the requested and supported protocol versions in host diagnostics or traces.
- Use a supported shared-storage design for the deployment version instead of copying protocol metadata between hosts.
