E_IMAPI_RECORDER_FEATURE_IS_NOT_CURRENT

IMAPI distinguishes all supported MMC feature pages from the subset marked current. A feature can exist in the drive capability set yet be inactive for the current profile or media. This HRESULT reports that second case.

Compare supported and current feature-page sets

Enumerate SupportedFeaturePages and CurrentFeaturePages for the same recorder state.
Record current media and current profile before changing discs.
Do not label the drive as lacking the feature; the feature is supported but not active now.

Media changes can alter which features are current, so capability results should not be cached indefinitely across tray events. The diagnostic difference matters for user guidance: “use a compatible medium/profile” can be appropriate here, whereas a truly unsupported feature may require another recorder or another format strategy.
