E_IMAPI_DF2TAO_NOT_ENOUGH_SPACE means the proposed audio stream cannot fit in the free space remaining on the prepared medium. IDiscFormat2TrackAtOnce exposes FreeSectorsOnMedia specifically for the number of sectors available to add another track.
Measure audio-track requirements against free sectors
- Read
FreeSectorsOnMediaimmediately before adding the track. - Calculate source duration/PCM size using the required 44.1 kHz, 16-bit stereo raw format.
- Remember the TAO rules documented for
AddAudioTrack: a minimum four-second track is padded when necessary and a two-second gap is added between successive tracks.
The overhead means summing source file sizes alone can underestimate the final disc requirement. This is different from the 99-track limit and from invalid audio stream format. Removing or shortening audio can solve capacity pressure; changing the recorder or write speed does not create more sectors on the inserted disc. Preflight using free sectors and the actual TAO layout rules before starting the next track.
