STATUS_CLIP_DEVICE_LICENSE_MISSING
The app license lacks its required device entitlement
Some Store licensing models include rights that are bound to a particular device or to its offline-use designation. This status indicates that the evaluation requires such a device license and none is available. A user purchase or package installation by itself may not satisfy the device-bound portion of the license chain.
The condition can appear after reimaging, hardware replacement, cloning, restoring only part of the licensing state, or moving an offline deployment to a different device. The remedy is to acquire or provision a valid license for this device, not to modify the hardware identifiers stored in the package.
What to inspect
- Confirm whether the product uses default, open, restrictive, enterprise, or offline licensing.
- Check the device’s Store account, offline permissions, and network access for license refresh.
- Review recent reimage, motherboard, TPM, firmware, or identity changes.
- Redeploy the device license through the supported Store or management channel.
