kIOFireWireConfigROMInvalid

The device description cannot be trusted yet

kIOFireWireConfigROMInvalid identifies a Configuration ROM validation failure in Apple's FireWire family. The code is more specific than a missing directory entry: it means the ROM data needed for discovery or binding could not be used as a valid description of the node for that operation.

Configuration ROM is tied to a bus node and can be observed across resets and topology changes. Diagnostic work should preserve the exact ROM bytes, length, generation, and node identity. A later reset can change what is readable, but it does not prove that an earlier invalid image was harmless or that it described the same state.
