ADTS-framed AAC begins each frame with a fixed sync pattern. This status means the decoder did not see that pattern where an ADTS header was expected.
Typical causes are starting the decode at the wrong byte, passing AudioSpecificConfig or raw access-unit data to an ADTS API, or losing frame boundaries in a transport stream.
Do not confuse
- Raw AAC access units do not contain an ADTS header.
- MP4 stores AAC configuration separately and usually does not expose ADTS headers.
- A wrong ADTS frame length can move the next frame start away from the syncword.
