The stereo mask belongs to channel-pair decoding. It determines where mid/side stereo is applied across window groups and scalefactor bands.
A wrong mask often follows a bad common_window flag, max_sfb value, or window grouping. Check those structural fields before treating it as a left/right output-channel problem.

- The ms_present value for the channel pair.
- The number of mask bits implied by window groups and max_sfb.
- Whether intensity stereo or codebook data changed the expected band layout.
