WSAECONNABORTED
WSAECONNABORTED means that an established virtual circuit was terminated because of a timeout or another failure. Winsock documents the socket as no longer usable after this error.
How to handle it
Close and discard the socket, then create a new connection when the application protocol permits retry. Continuing to send or receive through the same socket can create misleading secondary errors.
What to investigate
- Connection idle timeouts in the application, proxy, firewall, load balancer, or NAT device.
- Local resource pressure or a process that closed the socket concurrently.
- The last successful protocol message and whether the failure is correlated with long-running transfers.
