ERROR_GENERIC_NOT_MAPPED

An access check received GENERIC_READ, GENERIC_WRITE, GENERIC_EXECUTE, or GENERIC_ALL too late in processing

Generic access rights are placeholders whose concrete meaning depends on the object type. Before AccessCheck-style evaluation, a server maps those bits through a GENERIC_MAPPING structure to standard and object-specific rights. This error indicates that generic bits were still present where a nongeneric mask was required, so the object-specific mapping step was omitted or applied to the wrong mask.

Capture the desired access mask in hexadecimal before and after MapGenericMask and record the GENERIC_MAPPING used for the object. A file mapping cannot be reused blindly for a registry key, service, or private application object because each resource defines its own specific rights. Also check that mapping occurs on the desired-access value before the access-check call, not only on a granted-rights result. Fix the resource manager contract rather than manually deleting GENERIC_* bits, which could silently change requested semantics.
