ERROR_SXS_WRONG_SECTION_TYPE
ERROR_SXS_WRONG_SECTION_TYPE means that code requested one kind of activation-context section while using an API or query form intended for another kind. Activation contexts can expose different section formats for DLL, COM, window-class, and other side-by-side data.
What to check
- Review the activation-context API call and its section or flag arguments against the data type expected by the lookup.
- Verify that the manifest actually contributes the class of information the caller is querying.
- Keep section-specific lookup code separate so a constant or flag from one section type is not reused for another.
The manifest may be valid; the failure can be entirely in the caller selecting an incompatible query type.
