ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_NOT_LOCKED — The requested Side-by-Side assembly operation requires the assembly to be locked first.
A deployment or servicing operation attempted to access an assembly without the required lock. This can happen when setup work overlaps, a transaction was interrupted, or an installer uses the deployment APIs in the wrong sequence.
For an administrator, first rule out concurrent setup, servicing, or application-update activity. For developers, review the documented lifecycle of the deployment operation.
What to check
- Make sure no other installation, servicing, or update transaction is still running.
- Reboot if a previous setup operation left pending work, then retry the supported installer once.
- Do not delete locks or modify WinSxS metadata to force the operation through.
