ERROR_EVT_EVENT_TEMPLATE_NOT_FOUND
The event data template referenced by the manifest cannot be found
Manifest-based events use a template identifier to define the ordered event-specific fields and their types. The event definition contains the template reference, while the provider metadata contains the actual template. If the referenced template is missing, Event Log cannot interpret or validate the payload even though the provider and event definition may otherwise be visible.
Treat this as a manifest/resource consistency problem. Compare the installed manifest with the message and resource binaries built from the same source. Reinstalling only one binary can leave an event definition that points to a template from another build. Enumerating provider event metadata helps confirm which event ID and version are registered before replacing files or re-registering the manifest.
What to inspect
- Locate the event ID and version in the installed provider metadata.
- Confirm that its template identifier exists in the same manifest build.
- Deploy and register the manifest and resource binaries as one versioned unit.
