What does Windows error code 1704 (RPC_S_INVALID_RPC_PROTSEQ) mean?

Previous Next

RPC_S_INVALID_RPC_PROTSEQ

RPC_S_INVALID_RPC_PROTSEQ means that the protocol-sequence value itself is invalid. This differs from RPC_S_PROTSEQ_NOT_SUPPORTED: here the runtime cannot accept the supplied value as a valid RPC protocol-sequence identifier.

Typical cause

The value was misspelled, truncated, configured with the wrong identifier, or supplied in a place where RPC expects another binding component. A syntactically valid host name or port number does not make a protocol-sequence field valid.
