What does Windows error code 1735 (RPC_S_NO_ENTRY_NAME) mean?

RPC_S_NO_ENTRY_NAME

Not every binding carries RPC namespace provenance

RPC_S_NO_ENTRY_NAME can occur when code asks for the name-service entry associated with a binding, but that binding has no entry name. A binding created directly from a string binding or composed from network address and endpoint information is not necessarily tied to an RPC namespace entry.

The name-service APIs preserve information about bindings imported or looked up through an RPC name service. Asking a direct binding for that provenance is a category error, not proof that the server binding itself is unusable.

What to inspect

Calls over the binding may still succeed. The missing data is the name-service entry association, not necessarily the protocol sequence, network address, or endpoint.
