STATUS_NOTIFY_ENUM_DIR
The watcher must resynchronize by enumerating the directory
This status means the notification path cannot return a complete incremental list of changes. The safe recovery is to enumerate the directory and rebuild local state instead of assuming the missing events can be reconstructed.
It is a resynchronization signal. It often matters for sync engines, indexers and filter drivers that maintain a mirror of a directory tree.
What to inspect
- Treat the directory snapshot as stale and enumerate again.
- Increase buffer sizing only after confirming that overflow or stale state is the real cause.
- Preserve the root directory, subtree flag and notification filter used by the watcher.
