STATUS_REPARSE_OBJECT
The resolver, not the file data path, needs another pass
STATUS_REPARSE_OBJECT is a name-resolution status. The Object Manager reached a symbolic-link object and must reparse the name before an open can complete. It does not say that the link target is missing, that the underlying file is corrupt, or that a file-system read failed.
This result matters in code that works with native object names rather than only Win32 paths. The namespace can include symbolic links for devices, sessions, DOS-device mappings, and other kernel objects. A trace that contains only the final Win32-looking path may hide the component where the namespace actually changed.
Keep these cases separate
STATUS_REPARSE_OBJECTasks the resolver to continue with a revised name.STATUS_REPARSE_POINT_NOT_RESOLVEDindicates that a reparse target could not be resolved.STATUS_STOPPED_ON_SYMLINKmeans an operation intentionally stopped at a symbolic-link boundary.
For a failure report, preserve the original object name and the operation options that controlled link traversal. That is more actionable than reporting only the final status value.
