STATUS_RESOURCE_REQUIREMENTS_CHANGED
The device must be rebalanced with a new resource list
The PnP manager assigns interrupt, memory, I/O-port and DMA resources from a device resource-requirements list. This informational status reports that a device which successfully passed query-stop now needs a different list. The existing assignment must not simply be reused because the bus or function driver has declared that its operating constraints changed.
This normally belongs to a controlled stop and restart sequence. Drivers should expose the new alternatives through the resource-requirements IRPs and consume only the translated resources supplied with the next start request. Directly editing stored resource values or programming hardware from the old list can create conflicts that appear only after rebalance or resume.
What to inspect
- Capture the old and new IO_RESOURCE_REQUIREMENTS_LIST and the IRP that reported the change.
- Verify that resource descriptors retain valid ordering, alternatives and interrupt flags.
- Confirm the next IRP_MN_START_DEVICE uses the newly assigned raw and translated resource lists.
