STATUS_PROCESS_IN_JOB
The process is a member of the queried job
This status is the positive counterpart to STATUS_PROCESS_NOT_IN_JOB. It indicates that the target process is associated with the job being tested. Job membership matters because job limits, termination, accounting and completion-port notifications can affect every process associated with the job.
Do not assume the queried job is the process's only job. Windows supports nested jobs on modern versions, and parent jobs can influence limits applied to child jobs. When diagnosing an unexpected restriction, capture the full job hierarchy and relevant QueryInformationJobObject classes rather than stopping after the first positive membership test.
What to inspect
- Identify the exact job handle and process ID used by the membership query.
- Inspect nested parent jobs when resource limits or termination policy are unexpected.
- Record job limit and notification configuration relevant to the failing operation.
