STATUS_FILE_LOCKED_WITH_WRITERS
The file is locked with writer participation
This status reports that the file lock state includes at least one writer. Operations that need conflicting access to the locked byte range may have to wait, fail, or be retried according to the caller policy.
It is not the same as an oplock and not the same as a deny-write share mode. The range and lock owner matter more than the file name alone.
What to inspect
- Capture byte ranges, owner handles and whether the caller requested shared or exclusive locking.
- Avoid treating the entire file as unavailable unless the locked range covers the operation.
- Check for leaked locks when a process exits unexpectedly or handles are duplicated.
