ERROR_INVALID_PRINTER_DRIVER_MANIFEST
The printer-driver manifest failed validation
ERROR_INVALID_PRINTER_DRIVER_MANIFEST means Windows found the printer-driver manifest used by the package but could not accept it as a valid manifest for that driver. For v4 printer drivers, the manifest describes printer-specific package directives and must agree with the rest of the driver package.
What to inspect
- Preserve the exact driver package, INF, manifest, catalog/signature state, architecture, and the print-driver installation event that returned the error.
- Validate the manifest syntax and required sections against the driver model being installed.
- Check that files named by the manifest exist in the package and that the INF/manifest relationship belongs to the same driver version.
- Distinguish a v4 printer-driver manifest from unrelated application or visual-style manifests.
Recovery
Correct or obtain a valid signed driver package and install it through the supported print-driver deployment path. Do not edit a production package in place or mix manifest/INF files from different driver releases.
After replacement, repeat driver staging/installation and verify the printer queue binds to the intended package without a new catalog, signature, or file-not-found error.
