File-level TRIM is not supported
ERROR_FILE_LEVEL_TRIM_NOT_SUPPORTED is returned when software requests deallocation hints for a specific file but the active storage stack cannot perform that operation at file granularity.
Compatibility checks
- Confirm that the file system implements the requested control code.
- Check device, controller, and virtualization support for TRIM or UNMAP.
- Verify that encryption, snapshots, or filter drivers do not block the feature.
- Treat the capability as optional unless the application contract says otherwise.
Fallback
Continue without file-level trimming or use a supported volume-level maintenance mechanism. The error does not by itself mean normal file I/O is unavailable.
