ERROR_RWRAW_ENCRYPTED_INVALID_EDATAINFO_FILERANGE

The encrypted-data range is invalid

ERROR_RWRAW_ENCRYPTED_INVALID_EDATAINFO_FILERANGE reports that the offset and length combination in raw encrypted-data metadata does not describe an acceptable range. Either value can look reasonable individually while their sum, alignment, or ordering is invalid.

Typical defects

Diagnosis

Validate offset, length, end position, ordering, overlap, and alignment before issuing I/O. Record the chunk index and total number of chunks. For large files, test boundary values beyond 2 GB and 4 GB.

Handling

Stop restore or migration for the affected file and preserve the original artifact for analysis. Do not skip the bad range unless the backup format explicitly supports sparse or optional regions with independent integrity checks.

Preventive design

Protect each metadata record with a checksum or authenticated envelope and verify the entire range map before writing any destination data.
