ENOCSI
CSI is not defined as a current POSIX resource
ENOCSI is errno 43 in illumos and is listed by Oracle as No CSI structure available
. The current Solaris errno catalog gives no general system-call scenario for the code, and POSIX Issue 8 does not include ENOCSI.
The acronym alone is insufficient to infer a modern subsystem. A previous generic page grouped this value with unrelated channel and exchange errors. The technically safe interpretation is narrower: a legacy producer expected a CSI structure and could not obtain one; that producer's source or interface documentation must define the structure and its lifetime.
Evidence needed for ENOCSI
- Locate the code path that returns errno 43 and identify the structure type it calls CSI.
- Inspect allocation, lookup, and teardown of that structure rather than assuming a filesystem or socket resource limit.
- When decoding historical data, record the OS/version and header set because numeric errno assignments can change across environments.
