The requested collection has no available media to allocate
Availability is a lifecycle state, not merely physical presence. A cartridge can be in the correct library and pool but allocated, completed, mounted, decommissioned or otherwise unavailable to a new request. If an application pool permits automatic draw from the free pool, RSM may search there; without that policy, the absence of an available member remains local to the application pool.
Enumerate physical and logical media states in the requested pool and its related free pool. Determine whether existing media should be deallocated, returned to free, or replaced with new media. If the cartridge is offline, handle that separately through an operator request; moving an unavailable allocated cartridge between slots does not make it available.
What to inspect
- Inspect allocation and deallocation policy on the pool.
- Count Available media separately from allocated or completed media.
- Check the free pool and any pending new-media operator request.
