ERROR_DEVICE_NOT_AVAILABLE
The device path needed by RSM is currently unavailable
RSM returns this status when a hardware resource required for mount, dismount, inventory or injection cannot be used. The database object may still be valid, but the library can be disconnected, a drive can be disabled, or the changer may not be operational. This differs from media-not-available, which focuses on the cartridge or logical-media resource.
Inspect the library, changer and drive objects independently. Verify the device is present, enabled and in the Ready operational state, and review device-service operator requests. If multiple drives exist, allow RSM to select another compatible device rather than repeatedly naming one unavailable drive.
What to inspect
- Check library, changer and drive operational state.
- Review system hardware events and RSM device-service requests.
- Retry without forcing a specific drive when alternatives exist.
