The source file or stream is not eligible for offloaded reading
ODX support is evaluated for the particular file, stream, offset, and length, not only for the volume. A source can be ineligible because of file-system features, stream type, alignment, state, or storage capabilities that prevent the stack from producing a token equivalent to ordinary reads. The same volume may offload other files successfully.
Record the exact source stream, range, file attributes, file-system type, and storage path. Compare the request with ODX alignment and maximum-transfer information returned by the stack. Test a simple uncompressed ordinary data stream on the same volume to separate per-file restrictions from global storage support. Applications must treat rejection as a cue to use a conventional copy rather than as data loss.
What to inspect
- Capture source attributes, stream name, offset, and length.
- Compare the request with device ODX limits and alignment.
- Test another ordinary file on the same source volume.
