The cluster was created without the administrative access point this operation expects
New-Cluster supports administrative access point modes including ActiveDirectoryAndDns, Dns, and None. Microsoft documents that some clustered roles and functionality might not be available when no administrative access point is created, and Failover Cluster Manager cannot manage such a cluster.
This status can therefore be a design mismatch rather than a broken DNS record. Determine how the cluster was intentionally created before attempting to manufacture a Network Name or Cluster Name Object manually.
What to inspect
- Review the cluster deployment model and whether an administrative access point was intentionally set to None.
- Check the requirements of the management tool or clustered role that returned the error.
- If the workload requires an access point, use a supported cluster deployment or migration design; do not manually create AD or DNS objects and assume the cluster will adopt them.
