ENOTUNIQ

ENOTUNIQ is Solaris errno value 80, Name not unique on network. Oracle's system-call introduction states that a given log name is not unique. The public description is tied to an older network naming context and does not define this as a DNS duplicate-record error.

Find the naming facility that returned the errno

Because the brief Solaris description does not name a modern socket or resolver API, the failing call is essential evidence. Identify the RFS, System V compatibility, or other network-naming component that owns the log name and enumerate the entries visible to that component. The duplicate must be evaluated in the facility's namespace, not by searching unrelated local usernames or DNS zones.

Do not automatically rewrite a hostname merely because the string network appears in the error text. Preserve the original name and capture the subsystem's configuration so the conflicting entries can be compared. On a ported application, also check whether a compatibility layer is translating an internal duplicate-name condition into this retained Solaris errno.
