DNS_STATUS_SINGLE_PART_NAME

A local-style name, not a global DNS identity

DNS_STATUS_SINGLE_PART_NAME means the input contains one label and no dot separators. This is a name-form status rather than a lookup failure. Resolution of a single-label name can depend on machine and network policy, including configured DNS suffixes and the resolver path selected by the application. The same text can therefore expand to different FQDNs in different environments.

Single-label names are convenient for local administration but are poor durable identifiers for distributed configuration, access-control rules, certificates, or telemetry. A successful result on one workstation does not establish which DNS namespace another system will search.
