DNS_ERROR_PRIMARY_REQUIRES_DATAFILE
DNS_ERROR_PRIMARY_REQUIRES_DATAFILE means a file-backed primary zone was configured without its required zone data file. This does not apply in the same way to AD-integrated zones, which store zone data in Active Directory.
What to check
- Confirm whether the zone was intended to be file-backed or AD-integrated.
- For a file-backed primary zone, verify the configured data file name and that the file exists in the expected DNS server location.
- Do not copy an unrelated zone file into place; use a known-good backup or recreate the zone configuration deliberately.
