STATUS_DEVICE_OFF_LINE
The printer has been placed in an offline state
Offline is a logical availability state reported by the printer, port monitor, or queue. It can be set by an operator, by a disconnected network path, or by a monitor that has not received a valid response. Jobs can remain spooled while Windows stops sending data to the port.
Do not assume that offline means powered off. Query the queue, printer object, and port status, then test the actual transport. If only one client sees the problem, inspect its printer connection and cached port state; if all clients do, investigate the server, printer, DNS, and network path.
What to inspect
- Record whether the queue is paused and whether Use Printer Offline is set.
- Test the printer endpoint independently of the spooler.
- Clear the port error only after the underlying connection is healthy.
