VDS_E_INVALID_VOLUME_FLAG

VDS_E_INVALID_VOLUME_FLAG means the caller passed bits that are not accepted volume flags for the requested method. Only a subset of VDS_VOLUME_FLAG values can be set or cleared directly; many flags are informational or controlled by Windows.

Restrict requests to method-supported flags

Decode the mask and compare it with the flags listed for SetFlags or ClearFlags.
Do not attempt to set system, boot, pagefile or formatting status bits.
Handle newly observed flags as read-only information unless the API explicitly permits modification.

A flag can be defined in the enumeration yet still be invalid for mutation. The disk model and volume role can impose further restrictions after syntax validation. Report both the numeric mask and symbolic names so configuration bugs are visible rather than reduced to a generic invalid-argument message.
