WU_E_INVALID_UPDATE_TYPE
WU_E_INVALID_UPDATE_TYPE means Windows Update encountered an update record with a type it could not process. The update may have been classified incorrectly or the client may not support the metadata type supplied by the service.
What to verify
- Check the selected update service and client servicing level.
- For managed content, verify that the update classification and metadata were published correctly.
- Use the log to distinguish a metadata-type issue from a policy that simply filters a valid update out of the scan results.
