WU_E_SYSPREP_IN_PROGRESS
WU_E_SYSPREP_IN_PROGRESS means the Windows Update service is intentionally unavailable while Sysprep is running. Sysprep changes system identity and deployment state, so update actions should not overlap the generalize or image-capture workflow.
What to do
- Allow Sysprep to finish and complete the required reboot before resuming scan, download, or install actions.
- Keep Windows Update orchestration out of the image-generalization phase.
- If the code persists after Sysprep should have completed, inspect Sysprep and setup logs before assuming that Windows Update itself is broken.
