ERROR_DISK_RESOURCES_EXHAUSTED
The storage device has exhausted physical resources
ERROR_DISK_RESOURCES_EXHAUSTED reports a device-level resource shortage rather than ordinary free-space exhaustion. Thin-provisioned capacity, spare blocks, internal mapping resources, or other physical limits may be depleted.
Operational checks
- Inspect storage-array and device health telemetry.
- Check thin-provisioning pools and snapshot reserves.
- Look for predictive-failure or media-exhaustion events.
- Confirm whether the device vendor provides a recovery or rebalance procedure.
Response
Move critical data away from the affected device and restore resource headroom. Deleting a few files may not help when the exhausted resource is internal to the storage hardware.
