COREMSG_INTERNAL_ERROR

COREMSG_INTERNAL_ERROR is bug check 0x174. Its public contract is specific: CoreMessaging detected an unrecoverable error, parameter 1 identifies the failure type, and parameters 2 through 4 are reserved. Microsoft does not publish a portable table that maps every parameter-1 value to a named cause on this reference page.

Keep the CoreMessaging layer distinct

This code is adjacent to COREMSGCALL_INTERNAL_ERROR (0x173), whose description names CoreMessageCall. Similar parameter layouts do not make the two values interchangeable. When comparing crash clusters, retain the actual stop code, failure-type value, Windows build, and stack instead of reducing both to a generic “CoreMsg error.”

Preserve parameter 1 exactly and do not decode reserved arguments as stable fields.
Run !analyze -v, identify the current thread, and examine frames around the CoreMessaging failure path.
Use matching symbols and compare module versions when the same failure type recurs after an update.
