ERROR_UNEXPECTED_OMID
The cartridge label conflicts with the RSM database
RSM identifies cartridges using on-media identifier information such as a recognized application label or file-system information. The database associates that OMID with the logical side. An unexpected value can indicate that a different cartridge is in the slot or drive, the medium was reformatted outside RSM, a label was rewritten, or location data became stale after manual movement.
Stop write operations until identity is reconciled. Compare the physical cartridge, slot and expected logical-media record, then perform an inventory or identification. Applications that format or write their own label should call UpdateNtmsOmidInfo immediately so RSM stores the new label information; simply changing the database name does not change the on-media identity.
What to inspect
- Compare the read OMID with the expected logical-media record.
- Check for manual cartridge swaps or external formatting.
- Update OMID only after writing and validating the authoritative label.
