DNS_ERROR_INVALID_DATAFILE_NAME
DNS_ERROR_INVALID_DATAFILE_NAME means the zone’s configured file name or path is not acceptable to the DNS Server service. The problem can be a malformed name, an unsupported path, or a configuration that does not match the zone storage model.
What to check
- Check the exact configured file name and compare it with a known-good file-backed zone.
- Verify the zone type before changing the file setting; AD-integrated zones should not be repaired as if they were file-backed.
- Review DNS Server events for an accompanying access or parsing error.
