VDS_S_IA64_BOOT_MIRRORED_TO_MBR
VDS_S_IA64_BOOT_MIRRORED_TO_MBR is a success-with-warning result from a legacy boot-volume mirroring workflow. The data plex can be created on the MBR disk, but the firmware and partition-style combination does not make that secondary plex an independent boot target.
Treat data redundancy and boot redundancy separately
- Enumerate the resulting plexes and record which GPT or MBR disk contains each one.
- Verify firmware-visible boot entries and recovery media instead of assuming that every healthy mirror member is bootable.
- Test the documented failover path on equivalent hardware before relying on the secondary disk for disaster recovery.
The warning does not mean that the mirror operation failed or that the secondary plex cannot store synchronized data. It means that a disk failure can leave the volume data available while the machine still lacks a usable startup path. Modern UEFI/GPT systems should use supported boot-recovery designs rather than treating this IA64-era status as a general mirroring guarantee.
