RPC_E_CALL_REJECTED
RPC_E_CALL_REJECTED means that a COM call was rejected by the callee or by COM call filtering. It commonly occurs when an apartment-threaded automation server is busy with a modal dialog, user edit, or another operation that temporarily cannot accept the call.
How to handle a rejected call
- Confirm that the target application is not showing a modal dialog or waiting for user input.
- For an automation client, use a bounded retry policy only where retrying the specific operation is safe.
- An STA server must continue pumping its message queue while it is expected to receive COM calls.
A retry must not blindly repeat an operation that may already have changed data. Record the method, arguments, and server state before choosing a retry policy.
