VDS_E_CANNOT_EXTEND
VDS_E_CANNOT_EXTEND means that VDS reports that the volume cannot be extended because the file system does not support that operation. This is distinct from a simple lack of free disk space: adding capacity may still be unsupported for the current file system or volume arrangement.
What to check
- Identify the file system and volume type before retrying an extend request.
- Confirm that usable unallocated space exists in a layout that the provider and volume type can use.
- Plan a supported migration or maintenance path instead of repeatedly attempting an unsupported in-place extension.
