VDS_E_INVALID_VOLUME_TYPE
VDS_E_INVALID_VOLUME_TYPE reports an operation/type mismatch. VDS distinguishes simple, spanned, striped, mirrored and RAID-5 volume types, and methods such as extend, shrink or plex operations support only specific layouts.
Read volume type and plex layout before dispatch
- Query
VDS_VOLUME_PROPand record theVDS_VOLUME_TYPE. - Enumerate plexes when the operation depends on mirrored or striped structure.
- Do not infer volume type from the number of disks visible in a UI.
Changing the filesystem cannot turn one VDS volume type into another. Choose an API that explicitly supports the current layout or redesign the storage. Because dynamic disks are deprecated for most new usage, avoid building new automation that depends on converting among legacy dynamic volume types.
